Contrary to his name, St. Germain was not a saint. His full name was the Count of St. Germain, though it is doubtful that he was even a count. He may have made up his name to provide more validity to his often unbelievable claims. According to documents written at the time, he was quite a shady character. He seemed to be into a lot of things, including alchemy.
According to Wikipedia, “The Count of St. Germain (1710–1784) has been variously described as a “Courtier”, an “Adventurer”, a “Charlatan”, an “Inventor”, an alchemist, a Pianist, a violinist and an amateur composer, but is best known as a recurring figure in the stories of several strands of occultism – particularly those connected to Theosophy, where he is also referred to as the Master Rakoczi or the Master R and credited with near god-like powers and longevity. Some sources write that his name is not familial, but was invented by him as a French version of the Latin “Sanctus Germanus”, meaning “Holy Herman”, or “Holy Brother Herman.” St. Germanus was a lay brother of the Benedictine order.”
There were many myths about St. Germain, which continue today, including the idea that he was immortal and that he had the “elixir of life”. If there is any connection between St. Germain and the Emerald tablet, it may be that both Hermes and St. Germain were alchemists. The Theosophical Society believes St. Germain was an Ascended Master, who has been reincarnated many times, including being Merlin. If St. Germain was part of the “Secret” why are none of his previous ‘incarnations’ included as part of the lineage of the Secret? For that matter, why is someone who is immortal being reincarnated? And if he is immortal, where is he now?
So far we have some alchemists and charlatans in the lineage, what about some of the other more reputable names?
