It may seem obvious but we humans are social creatures. What we are thinking and feeling shows on our faces and in our body language. Even if we try to hide our true feelings, we tend to give it away with our micro-expressions.
What are microexpressions? They are the tiny movements and gestures on our faces and bodies that last a fraction of a second. While we and others are unaware of these individual expressions, they combine to provide a sense or feeling about what is happening. They are part of what becomes the gut feeling that people describe about a person or situation. These micro-expressions are studied to determine when someone is lying, especially in a high security situations.
