The day is over, we are tired, we know it’s time for bed, but most of us stay up just a little longer. And where’s the harm? Why not stay up and finish a good book or watch just one more TV program?
It turns out sleep is more important than we once thought. While most of us appreciate the value of resting our bodies, few truly appreciate the influence of rest on our minds. Sleep is so important to the mind that any animal with a brain has a regular sleep routine. In fact, according to a recent study, even fruit flies have a rest cycle lasting more than two and a half hours 1. and sleep a total of 12 hours a day. 2. Lucky fruit flies!
